As 2023 comes to a close, we are recapping a few of this year’s big events as seen from space. In early February, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Türkiye and Syria, causing nearly 60,000 fatalities and damaging or destroying more than 230,000 buildings. The first two Overviews seen here show the aftermath in Hatay, Türkiye, and the third image shows rescue efforts in the village of Besnia, Syria.
